Beaches and coves
Begur is at the heart of the Costa Brava, in the central area. From 45min of Girona and from 1: 30h Barcelona.
In addition many tourists return year after year, in Begur spend their summer holidays especially the locals of Barcelona.
Surely you’ve heard of the turquoise waters of Aiguablava, what is the crystalline water in Platja Fonda or how precious the village of Sa Tuna. All this is there, in the Begur Cape.
You will need the car to move, although there are intercity bus service, the car will allow more flexible schedules and itinerary.
The best of the Costa Brava is explore its coves and villages. In one weekend you can visit the beaches of Begur quietly.
the first beach that is coming from the neighboring town of Pals is the Racó Beach, is a semi-urban beach of golden sand, moderate waves, with blue flag.
Its area is 400 meters long and 40 meters wide.
It has the usual facilities: toilets, showers, hammocks and parasols for rent etc.
It also has surveillance equipment and a Cruz Roja stand.
It has a panoramic view of Medes Islands.
ILLA ROJA COVE, secluded cove located in a beautiful setting of rocks and pines where you can practice nudism and accessed from the neighboring beach of Raco. It is a beach of golden sand, moderate waves about 120 meters long and 20 meters wide, is characterized by being dominated by a reddish island namesake creek.
AIGUABLAVA It is the last beach belonging to Begur, located south of Fornells this beach is known for its crystal clear and shallow waters and its fine white sand, has a length of 75 meters and 25 meters wide.
Located at the eastern of the village, the small Aiguafreda Cove, covered by the Puig Rodo, offers a nice picnic area and a small harbor for boats, creek 30 meters long and 5 meters wide.
Located at the foot of the imposing Cap de Begur is the Platja Fonda, dark gray sand beach, located between rocky walls with pine trees, with a beautiful natural setting, a length of 170 meters and 20 meters wide. This beach due to its difficult access, no risks (we have to go down a set of stairs that allow us to contemplate the beauty of the beach), has managed to stay in unspoilt surroundings which gives it a unique beauty.
The next cove east also find is the Sa Tuna Cove, this small, sheltered cove composed of sand and bowling offers visitors a nice swim in crystal clear waters, has a length of 80 meters and 15 meters wide, the Sa Tuna cove is one of the most beautiful and picturesque of the Costa Brava, protected by rocks of Punta des Plom. On the right we can watch the little S’Eixugador cove where we can go walking. The walkway also allows reach Sa Sal cove and Aiguafreda.
Just north of town we found the Sa Riera beach, una de las mayores de Begur and the nearest village with an excellent geographic situation because the right has small sheltered cove Port d’es Pi that only gets the sun in the morning, and left the Rey cove. Sa Riera, which gets its name from a stream that divides the beach into two halves, retains its traditional character while offering various sports activities and tourism services. Golden sand beach 180 meters long and 30 meters wide, calm waters, has the usual facilities: toilets, showers, sun lounger hire sun loungers and a Red Cross. Easy access by foot or car. On the left margin Sa Riera part a walkway that allows stroll to the beach of Pals.
